Wow.

Just wow.

This image is part of a series of images that NOTCOT has of Cathy McClure’s “Remains” series, where McClure “skins” robotic toys, and then bronzes their plastic skeletons. The result is this beautiful robotic creature that reminds me of scifi interpretations of the promise of the atomic age. (Think Asimov.)

What I really love is that even without its soft elements, you can still tell what it was. I’d even venture to say that these machines have more soul than they did in their plushy forms.

They will be at Moss in New York November 20th – December 31st. And at Design Miami December 2nd – 5th.
